This Privacy Policy explains how Dignity Dashboard (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our browser extension and website services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Browser Extension Data

The Dignity Dashboard extension collects and processes the following data locally on your device:

  • Widget Settings & Preferences: Your dashboard layout, widget configurations, theme preferences, and language settings
  • Shortcuts: Website shortcuts you create, including URLs, titles, and optional screenshots
  • Notes & Todos: Personal notes and to-do items you create within the extension
  • Reminders: Reminder data including titles, dates, and notification preferences
  • Tab Stash: Saved tab groups including URLs, titles, and favicons (Premium feature)
  • Search History: Recent searches within the search widget (stored locally, optional)
  • RSS Feeds: Feed URLs you subscribe to and cached feed content

1.2 Browser Permissions Data

Our extension requires certain browser permissions to provide its features. Here's what each permission accesses and why:

  • Tabs: Access to open tabs for the Tab Stash feature and Spotlight Search. We do not track or store your browsing history beyond what you explicitly save.
  • Bookmarks: Read access to display bookmarks in Spotlight Search. We do not modify or export your bookmarks.
  • History: Read access to show recently visited sites in Spotlight Search. This data is not stored or transmitted.
  • Downloads: Access to display recent downloads in the Downloads widget and Spotlight Search.
  • Sessions: Access to recently closed tabs for the Recently Closed widget.
  • Storage: To save your settings and data locally on your device.
  • Notifications: To send reminder alerts you've configured.
  • Alarms: To schedule reminder notifications and background tasks.
  • System CPU/Memory: To display system resource usage in the System Monitor widget.
  • Context Menus: To provide “Add to Shortcuts” option when right-clicking.

1.3 Website & Account Data

When you create an account or purchase a subscription, we collect:

  • Account Information: Email address, name (optional), and encrypted password
  • Payment Information: Processed securely through third-party payment processors (Stripe, PayPal). We do not store credit card numbers.
  • License Information: License keys, activation status, and device identifiers for subscription management
  • OAuth Data: If you sign in with Google or LinkedIn, we receive your email and basic profile information

1.4 Automatically Collected Data

  • IP Address: For security, fraud prevention, and approximate location (country-level)
  • Browser Type & Version: For compatibility and support purposes
  • Device Information: Operating system and device type for support

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our extension and website services
  • Process subscription payments and manage your account
  • Sync your settings and data across devices (Premium feature, with your consent)
  • Send important service updates, security alerts, and support messages
  • Verify license validity and prevent unauthorized use
  • Respond to your support requests and inquiries
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve our products (aggregated, non-personal data only)

3. Data Storage

3.1 Local Storage (Extension)

By default, all extension data is stored locally on your device using:

  • IndexedDB: For larger data like shortcuts, notes, tab stashes, and cached content
  • Chrome Storage API: For settings and preferences

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable Cloud Sync (Premium feature).

3.2 Cloud Storage (Premium)

If you enable Cloud Sync, your data is stored on our secure servers:

  • Servers located in secure data centers
  • Data encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Regular security audits and backups
  • You can disable Cloud Sync or delete cloud data at any time

3.3 Website & Account Data

Account information and subscription data are stored in our secure database with encryption and access controls.

4. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:

4.1 Payment Processors

We share necessary payment information with:

  • Stripe: For credit/debit card processing
  • PayPal: For PayPal payments
  • Revolut: For Revolut Pay transactions
  • NOWPayments: For cryptocurrency payments

These processors have their own privacy policies and are PCI-DSS compliant.

4.2 OAuth Providers

If you choose to sign in with Google or LinkedIn, we exchange authentication tokens with these services. We only receive basic profile information (email, name).

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights and safety.

4.4 Third-Party APIs (Extension Features)

Some widgets connect to external APIs. These connections are made directly from your browser:

  • Weather Widget: Connects to weather APIs with your location (only if you enable location)
  • RSS Reader: Fetches content from RSS feed URLs you configure
  • Watchlist Widget: Fetches stock/crypto data from financial APIs
  • Wikipedia Widget: Fetches “On This Day” content from Wikipedia
  • Unsplash: Fetches background images (no personal data sent)

We do not share your personal information with these services.

5. Data Retention

  • Local Extension Data: Retained until you uninstall the extension or clear browser data
  • Cloud Sync Data: Retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Account Information: Retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion for legal/accounting purposes
  • Payment Records: Retained for 7 years as required by tax and accounting regulations
  • Support Communications: Retained for up to 2 years to provide better support

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:

  • SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive data
  • Secure password hashing (bcrypt)
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Limited employee access to personal data
  • Secure coding practices and code reviews

Our website uses cookies for:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for authentication and security
  • Preference Cookies: Remember your settings (theme, language)

The browser extension does not use tracking cookies or analytics that send data to third parties.
